Do I need to arrange a flight to Zanzibar?

You can arrange your own flights to Zanzibar, but we recommend consulting your tour consultant for advice on timings. Several airlines fly into Zanzibar, making it easy to start or end your safari there. A one-way flight from Arusha to Zanzibar costs around USD 200 and takes about one hour.

Can you go on Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar?

You can start or finish your Safari & Beach Tour in Zanzibar. Several airlines fly to Zanzibar, reducing the need for internal flights. For example, fly into Kilimanjaro (JRO), go on safari, then take an internal flight to Zanzibar before flying home from Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ). Most guests prefer to end their holiday in Zanzibar, but the choice is yours.

Which part of Zanzibar has the best beach?

Zanzibar’s different coastlines offer unique experiences, so it’s important to consider them when planning your trip.

  • East Coast: Known for long stretches of powder-white beaches, the shallow gradient means the tide goes out far, making it hard to swim directly from the shore.
  • North Coast: Ocean swimming here is less affected by tides. The beaches are smooth with white sand, perfect for sunny days. However, the area is busier with many guest houses, bars, shops, and restaurants, lacking the peace found elsewhere on the island.
  • South-West Coast: Fewer accommodations, but some of the island’s best marine experiences. It may not have the famous white sand beaches, but the area is less crowded and offers a more tranquil setting.
